Derek Cox

Derek was born and raised in Greenville, North Carolina. He received a full scholarship to play football for The College of William & Mary, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in entrepreneurship.

Upon graduation, Derek was drafted in the third round of the 2009 National Football League (NFL) draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the first game of his rookie season, he intercepted Peyton Manning and had a fumble recovery. During his 7 year career, he also played for the San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, and the New England Patriots.

After retiring from professional football, he moved his family back to San Diego to pursue his Master’s in Business Administration at UCLA Anderson School of Management.

He graduated in June of 2021 and began working for the NFL league office in New York for its player relations department. He is a certified contract advisor for players in the Canadian Football League, and he is currently in the process of becoming a certified contract advisor for players in the NFL. 

When he is not working or studying, he enjoys spending time with his son, cooking, eating hearty meals, socializing with friends, and working out.
